Barlow Theatrical Society (Barmpots)

The local Drama Group is called The Barmpots. Quite an apt name for the people who are in the group. It was originally lifted off by 'Bernie Clifton' the comedian. Who asked a few local people to help raise funds for a nearby hospice. We have this year given £1000 to our local Pre-School towards new outside playground equipment. Our total amount given to various charities and local needy causes, has been in the region of £35,000.

BARMPOTS actually stands for 'Barlow Amateur Repertory Musical Pantomime Operatic Theatrical Society'.

The main shows staged, are pantomime and Musical / comedy.

It is a small group of around 20 people, although it benefits the whole community. The equipment is also used by other village groups and the local school.

The Pantomime for 2011 was 'The Scarlet Pimple ' an intriguing pantomime based in Paris, with  Bastille Le Faultie,  Sybil Le Faultie,  Renee, Quazimodo, Pirates and many more appearing. A very funny show.

The show in Feb 2012 was called "Mayhem on the Orient Express" featuring Hercules Parrot as the detective and a few German Officers who escaped from "Allo Allo." a man who could only talk in rhyme and a few sexy Lady's.  Very funny.
